Aalto University Campus

The proposed urban design was based on the following principles: the site with a source geometry as inspiration, emphasizing the axes of the natural territory and buildings, and a square as the meeting point of the students. For a harmonized development of this area, it seems to be essential for the humanization of space combining its own character, with new interventions.
The proposal has a big special opportunity in the urban area. It involves, its natural environment. The project goal is to improve the qualities of the place, based on discreet intervention areas. Therefore, it is oriented to the development of routes and alternative routes on different levels and altitudes, which define paths that serve as “views” over the campus.
A series of horizontal plans “mixed”, with grass and vegetation are in “dialogue” with the environment, being connected by longitudinal and traversal, vertical and horizontal routes. The sequential spaces are organized not only to creat a place to study, but rather a place of movement and contemplation and population of residing population.
