Nova Peixaria Restaurant
Description
The Nova Peixaria project, located in the Alegro Alfragide shopping centre, represents a refined intervention in contemporary architecture in Portugal, where functionality, clarity, and brand identity are carefully integrated. Designed by Contacto Atlântico, a top architecture firm in Portugal, the project reflects the principles of high-end architecture, translating a strong visual identity into a coherent and efficient dining environment.
With a capacity of 52 seats, the space was reconfigured to enhance comfort and spatial organisation while maintaining a clear and minimalist architectural language. The intervention focuses on creating a balanced relationship between operational efficiency and user experience, ensuring that the restaurant responds effectively to everyday use.
Architectural Design, Materiality and Function
A defining feature of the project is the central service counter, designed with a straight-lined and minimalist approach. This element integrates all necessary equipment, allowing for efficient operation while maintaining a clean and controlled visual presence. The counter also incorporates the brand’s vinyl pattern, reinforcing identity and acting as a focal point within the space.
Materiality is carefully curated to achieve both coherence and contrast. Blue is used as the main accent colour across selected walls and details, evoking a subtle connection to the sea. This is balanced by the use of walnut in tables, menu frames, and chairs, introducing warmth and texture. The combination of these materials creates a unified and recognisable interior language.
The spatial layout is organised with two rows of tables extending along the depth of the space, optimising both circulation and seating capacity. This arrangement ensures clarity in movement while maintaining comfort for users, reinforcing the functional efficiency of the design.
Leading Architecture Firm in Portugal: Identity and Everyday Experience
The relationship between architecture and brand identity is central to the Nova Peixaria project, ensuring that every design decision contributes to a consistent and recognisable environment. The integration of layout, materials, and visual elements creates a space that is both functional and expressive.
Nova Peixaria stands as a clear example of how architectural design can elevate everyday dining environments through precision and simplicity. As part of Contacto Atlântico’s portfolio, it reinforces the studio’s position as a leading architecture firm in Portugal, recognised for delivering coherent and well-resolved commercial spaces.
