Ventura Terra

Description

The Ventura Terra project, located at Rua Alexandre Herculano 57 in Lisbon, involves the rehabilitation of a historic building originally designed by Miguel Ventura Terra and winner of the 1903 Prémio Valmor. The intervention, authored by architect André Caiado for the Jewish Community of Lisbon, aims to revitalise the building for contemporary use while preserving its heritage value.

The proposal includes spaces for services and housing, distributed across several floors, while maintaining the original façade composition and significant structural elements. The rehabilitation seeks to ensure compatibility between the original architectural language and current technical and functional requirements.

The project introduces sustainable and efficient solutions that ensure thermal comfort, accessibility and the enhancement of the property. It respects the city’s cultural heritage, contributes to the revitalisation of central Lisbon and celebrates one of the most notable examples of early twentieth-century architecture.
