Lisbon Office Complex
Description
The Lisbon Office Complex reflects a forward-thinking approach to contemporary architecture in Portugal, responding to post-pandemic shifts in how people work, interact, and engage with the city. Designed by Contacto Atlântico, a top architecture firm in Portugal, the project embodies the principles of high-end architecture, combining sustainability, flexibility, and user experience within a cohesive urban framework.
Comprising a group of buildings with approximately 14,000 m², the complex is organised around a central courtyard that acts as a shared social and environmental core. The project aims to create an energetically self-sufficient community, while offering efficient indoor and outdoor spaces that encourage employees to return to the workplace and engage with their surroundings.
Architectural Design, Materiality and Sustainability
The design integrates advanced strategies to balance energy consumption and production. Photovoltaic panels and small wind turbines are incorporated into the buildings, supporting a self-sufficient energy model. The façades adopt a dual passive strategy, combining horizontal shading elements that protect interiors during summer with vertical screens that filter sunlight on more exposed orientations.
These solutions are complemented by glazing systems adapted to each façade, ensuring optimal thermal performance and reducing energy demand. Together, these measures enhance comfort while contributing to long-term economic efficiency.
Materiality is aligned with performance and durability, supporting both environmental goals and architectural clarity. The envelope design reinforces the identity of the complex while responding to climate conditions in a precise and controlled way.
Leading Architecture Firm in Portugal: Workplace and Community
Inside, the workspaces are designed to be spacious, bright, and welcoming, promoting collaborative environments that support interaction between colleagues, clients, and partners. The organisation of space encourages flexibility and adaptability, reflecting new patterns of work and communication.
The relationship between architecture and workplace is central to the project, ensuring that the built environment supports both productivity and wellbeing. The integration of outdoor areas and shared spaces strengthens the sense of community, positioning the complex as more than a workplace.
The Lisbon Office Complex stands as a clear example of how architecture can respond to contemporary challenges with innovation and clarity. As part of Contacto Atlântico’s portfolio, it reinforces the studio’s position as a leading architecture firm in Portugal, recognised for delivering sustainable, forward-looking, and high-quality office environments.
