Louis Vuitton

Description

The Louis Vuitton store project represents a precise intervention in contemporary architecture in Portugal, focused on remodelling and adapting existing spaces to meet the operational demands of a global luxury brand. Developed by Contacto Atlântico, a top architecture firm in Portugal, the proposal reflects a careful balance between preservation and transformation, aligned with the principles of high-end architecture.

The intervention fully respects the building’s morphological and architectural characteristics. All works are carried out within the existing structure, with no changes to volume or built area. This approach ensures that the original reading of the building remains intact, reinforcing its architectural identity while allowing for a refined interior update.

Architectural Design, Materiality and Spatial Organisation

The interior refurbishment is guided by the need to maintain alignment with the brand’s spatial standards while improving functionality and clarity. Circulation is simplified, ensuring intuitive movement throughout the store, while display areas are carefully organised to enhance the retail experience. Back-of-house functions are efficiently integrated, supporting seamless daily operations.

Materiality is approached with precision, ensuring consistency between architectural expression and brand identity. The intervention introduces refined finishes and controlled detailing, reinforcing a coherent and elegant spatial environment without compromising the existing structure.

A defining feature of the project is the staircase, which becomes the central architectural element. Designed as a light and slender form, it establishes a visual and spatial connection between the two floors. Its presence enhances the entrance area and contributes to a clear and recognisable identity within the store.

Leading Architecture Firm in Portugal: Identity and Experience

The relationship between architecture and brand identity is central to the project. Each design decision supports a cohesive retail environment that aligns with the expectations of a luxury brand while respecting the existing architectural context.

This intervention demonstrates how careful adaptation can elevate an existing space without altering its fundamental characteristics. As part of Contacto Atlântico’s portfolio, the project reinforces the studio’s position as a leading architecture firm in Portugal, recognised for delivering precise, refined, and context-sensitive architectural solutions.
