The Optimistic, located on Avenida Almirante Reis in Lisbon, is conceived as a space designed to evoke positive emotions through architecture. This project reflects a thoughtful approach to contemporary architecture in Portugal, where atmosphere, materiality, and spatial clarity are carefully orchestrated to create an immediate sense of calm and comfort. Developed by Contacto Atlântico, a top architecture firm in Portugal, the intervention aligns with the principles of high-end architecture, where user experience is central to the design process.

From the moment of entry, the space is structured to promote serenity and ease. The concept combines classic references with contemporary elements, resulting in a balanced and memorable environment. This layered approach allows the project to establish a distinctive identity while maintaining a refined and accessible character.

Architectural Design, Materiality and Atmosphere

The interior design is defined by a curated interplay of textures, colours, and natural elements. Tropical and exotic wallpaper introduces a strong visual identity, complemented by a controlled use of colour that enhances depth and contrast. Warm timber in varied tones adds richness and tactile quality, reinforcing the importance of materiality in shaping the spatial experience.

A significant presence of planting softens the environment and introduces a natural dimension, creating a more immersive and welcoming atmosphere. This integration of greenery contributes to a sense of wellbeing, reinforcing the project’s intention to create a calm and engaging interior.

Spatial organisation remains simple and legible, allowing circulation to flow naturally from one area to another. This clarity supports both functionality and comfort, ensuring an intuitive experience for users.
