Logistics Sintra
Description
The Logistics Sintra project establishes a comprehensive industrial and logistics complex, reflecting a strategic approach to contemporary architecture in Portugal. Designed by Contacto Atlântico, a top architecture firm in Portugal, the project aligns with the principles of high-end architecture, where efficiency, clarity, and functional performance shape the design.
The programme includes a storage building, a trade and services building, a refuelling and washing station for heavy vehicles, two guard houses, and an existing water collection structure. Together, these elements form a cohesive and adaptable logistics environment, designed to support a wide range of operational needs.
Architectural Design, Materiality and Site Strategy
The site plan takes advantage of existing conditions to maximise functionality, including the natural topography, established access points, existing vegetation, and previously built infrastructure. This approach reduces intervention while improving efficiency and coherence across the site.
The proposed buildings share a unified architectural language, defined by consistency in tone and expression. At the same time, each structure is distinguished by its scale and specific function, ensuring clarity and legibility within the overall composition.
Materiality reinforces the industrial character of the complex while ensuring durability and low maintenance. The architectural expression remains controlled and precise, supporting long-term performance and adaptability.
The overall layout is designed to optimise circulation for both light and heavy vehicles, with clearly defined routes, parking areas, and manoeuvring zones for loading and unloading operations. This organisation ensures safe, efficient, and continuous use of the complex.
Leading Architecture Firm in Portugal: Infrastructure, Efficiency and Landscape
The relationship between architecture and infrastructure is central to the Logistics Sintra project, ensuring that the design responds directly to operational demands while maintaining spatial clarity.
Landscape design plays a complementary role, preserving existing vegetation on the eastern side of the site and introducing new green areas with native, low-maintenance species. This strategy enhances environmental performance and integrates the development within its context.
Logistics Sintra stands as a clear example of how industrial architecture can combine functionality, sustainability, and design coherence. As part of Contacto Atlântico’s portfolio, it reinforces the studio’s position as a leading architecture firm in Portugal, recognised for delivering robust and context-driven logistics solutions.
