Loja Palacio Ajuda

Description

Following what is currently practiced, the route to visit a Museum or Palace will be to make available at the end of it a commercial space.

As a concept of main intervention, a “second skin” has been designed involving the two exhibition spaces and shop. This new skin creates a luminous and comfortable environment, involving the two spaces in one, with a single language and scale.

The elevator, the protagonist element of one of the spaces, generates a void in the new skin in order to accentuate its verticality. In the same way, a central balcony is designed in the adjoining space. The shop lives around these two elements.

The organization of the space and the new element’s design seek, in a contemporary way, to obey the assumptions of the palace architecture (symmetry, proportion and centrality).
