NOVO BANCO

Description

The new concept for NOVO BANCO introduces a redefined approach to contemporary architecture in Portugal, where the client becomes the central element of the spatial and functional organisation. Developed by Contacto Atlântico, a top architecture firm in Portugal, the proposal reflects the principles of high-end architecture, aligning design, experience, and institutional identity through a clear and innovative concept.

At the core of the project is a simple but powerful premise: without customers, there is no bank. The architectural response places the client space at the centre of the layout, transforming it into the structural backbone from which all services are organised and developed. This inversion of the traditional banking model establishes a more open, accessible, and engaging environment.

Architectural Design, Spatial Strategy and Transparency

The concept is inspired by the structure of a leaf. The client area functions as the network of veins that organise and sustain the entire space. From this central element, all functions extend, creating a clear and legible spatial system. This approach reinforces the importance of the client experience within the architectural design.

More private and reserved areas, while still essential, are repositioned towards the periphery. This strategy allows the central space to remain open, continuous, and visually connected, contrasting with conventional banking layouts where privacy zones dominate the initial perception of space.

Materiality and spatial clarity support this concept by enhancing transparency and visual continuity. Upon entering, the user is able to perceive the full depth of the space, establishing an immediate sense of openness and accessibility. Circulation becomes intuitive, and the relationship between different areas is clearly defined.

Leading Architecture Firm in Portugal: Experience and Trust

The relationship between architecture and user experience is fundamental to this concept, guiding a design that prioritises clarity, accessibility, and engagement. By restructuring the spatial hierarchy, the project creates an environment that feels more open and approachable.

This new concept for NOVO BANCO is driven by two key objectives: increasing transparency and strengthening trust. The architectural solution supports these goals by creating a space that is visually accessible, functionally efficient, and aligned with contemporary expectations of banking environments.

As part of Contacto Atlântico’s portfolio, this proposal reinforces the studio’s position as a leading architecture firm in Portugal, recognised for developing innovative and user-centred design strategies.
