Pastry Alcôa
Description
The Pastry Alcoa project concerns a 111.70 m² shop designed by architect Conceição Silva with ceramic artist Querubim Lapa. It sits at Rua Garrett 37–39 in Chiado and the intervention restores the space and adapts it for current use.
The brief changes the use of this Historic and Emblematic Shop, formerly Casa da Sorte, to food and beverage service without on site cooking. The team adapts the interior to the needs of Pastry Alcoa.
The design reinterprets the language of the former lottery house and converts it into a pastry shop for Portuguese convent sweets. In this way the new brand stands out while original elements recall its predecessor, namely timber joinery, stonework and the service counter.
