Rua da Palma 236
Description
The Rua da Palma 236 project restores a former post office building in Lisbon’s historic center, transforming it into a contemporary hostel for about 700 guests. The design keeps the original character of the structure and adds a new urban rhythm to Rua da Palma, linking traditional architecture with today’s tourism needs.
Exterior interventions remain minimal, respecting the Pombaline façade and maintaining harmony with the surrounding buildings. Inside, the plan reorganizes the spaces to improve functionality, comfort, and technical performance. The layout connects common areas, lounges, and rooms in a clear, flowing arrangement that supports both privacy and community.
On the rooftop, a new viewpoint opens to the city and São Jorge Castle. This element creates a distinctive identity for the hostel, offering a place to relax, meet, and enjoy Lisbon’s skyline.
