Rua da Rosa

Description

The Rua da Rosa project by Contacto Atlântico is located in the Príncipe Real district of Lisbon. The intervention involved the renovation of a five-story building with commercial space on the ground floor and residential units above.

From the outset, the proposal aimed to preserve the original character of the building. Key elements such as the main staircase and traditional ceilings were carefully restored. At the same time, contemporary solutions were introduced to improve thermal comfort and functionality.

In addition, the project enhances cross ventilation and maximizes natural light. City views were prioritized, and the main south/west-facing façade was redesigned with efficient frames and durable materials.

With a gross floor area of 1,122.6 m² and 790.9 m² of usable space, the building is being prepared for BREEAM certification. The careful selection of materials and passive strategies reflect a sustainable approach that respects the urban context.

The Rua da Rosa project in Lisbon reflects Contacto Atlântico’s commitment to high-quality urban regeneration. It is architecture that values heritage while meeting the needs of contemporary life.
