Description

This project was developed to respond to the operational and spatial needs of Hyatt Centric, within the constraints of an existing building. The intervention reflects a precise approach to contemporary architecture in Portugal, where adaptation, clarity, and user experience are carefully balanced. Designed by Contacto Atlântico, a top architecture firm in Portugal, the project aligns with the principles of high-end architecture, ensuring functional efficiency while maintaining a refined spatial identity.

A key challenge of the project was the connection between two buildings positioned at different ground levels. The architectural strategy focuses on creating a fluid, safe, and intuitive link that supports both guests and staff. This connection establishes clear circulation paths, enhancing usability and ensuring a seamless experience across the complex.

Architectural Design, Circulation and Experience

The primary connection is established on the second floor, aligned with the basement level of the taller building. From this point, users can access the spa and the courtyard, creating a central node within the overall layout. This level becomes a key transition space, structuring movement and reinforcing spatial continuity.

The organisation follows a lobby–rooms–lobby sequence, ensuring a clear and legible circulation system. This configuration allows for intuitive navigation while maintaining a strong relationship between functional areas. Natural light plays a central role, guiding movement and enhancing spatial perception.

Materiality and spatial design contribute to a calm and comfortable environment. Lounge areas are integrated along circulation paths, offering versatile spaces for rest and interaction. These areas support different modes of use while reinforcing the overall coherence of the project.

Leading Architecture Firm in Portugal: Connectivity and Hospitality Experience

The relationship between architecture and user experience is central to the project, ensuring that movement, comfort, and clarity are seamlessly integrated. The intervention transforms a complex spatial condition into a fluid and intuitive architectural solution.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design can resolve constraints while enhancing the overall hospitality experience. As part of Contacto Atlântico’s portfolio, it reinforces the studio’s position as a leading architecture firm in Portugal, recognised for delivering sophisticated and user-centred architectural solutions.
