Alentejo Restaurant
Description
Alentejo Restaurant is a chain dedicated to Portuguese regional cuisine, conceived to bring a calm, welcoming, and recognisable atmosphere into shopping centre environments. The project reflects a consistent approach to contemporary architecture in Portugal, where identity, functionality, and user experience are carefully aligned. Developed by Contacto Atlântico, a top architecture firm in Portugal, the concept translates the values of high-end architecture into a scalable and coherent retail format.
Contacto Atlântico created the architectural concept and developed the design for the entire network. The strategy is based on modular solutions that adapt to different locations while maintaining a strong and unified visual identity. This approach ensures consistency across multiple sites without compromising spatial quality or brand recognition.
Architectural Design, Materiality and Identity
The interior language is defined by a balanced combination of colour, texture, and geometry. The palette establishes a natural and refined tone, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. Wood is used extensively in furniture and flooring, introducing warmth and continuity throughout the space. Green tiles define the walls, reinforcing the connection to Portuguese tradition while contributing to a clear and recognisable identity.
Materiality is central to the project, ensuring durability, safety, and long-term performance. Each element is carefully selected to support both aesthetic coherence and operational efficiency. This approach reinforces the architectural clarity of the concept across different implementations.
Lighting plays a key role in structuring the experience. Warm and controlled illumination guides movement through the space, clearly defining the transition between counter, dining areas, and support zones. Discreet signage complements this system, ensuring intuitive navigation and reinforcing the overall identity.

The relationship between architecture and brand identity is fundamental to the Alentejo Restaurant concept. The project establishes a cohesive and recognisable environment that supports both operational functionality and customer experience.
By combining modular design with a strong architectural language, the project demonstrates how scalable solutions can maintain a high level of quality and refinement. As part of Contacto Atlântico’s portfolio, it reinforces the studio’s position as a leading architecture firm in Portugal, recognised for delivering consistent and well-resolved design systems across multiple contexts.
