Nova Rooftop

Nova Rooftop in Carcavelos sits in a unique location. It is a few metres from the longest beach on the Cascais coastline and only 15 metres above the water level, with an unrivalled neighbour, the sixteenth century São Julião da Barra military fort.

The aim was to bring the influence of the coast into the space. Inside, the floor uses Portuguese black and white tiles. In addition, outside, the warm toned timber deck extends life in the open air. The bar counter is clad with dark monochrome tiles with a soft sheen. Chairs, tables and light fittings combine raffia, black lacquered steel and light woods, creating a balance between the elegance of the space and the casual atmosphere of the Atlantic coast.

Even so, the protagonist of this project is the 270 degree view to the ocean’s horizon, where visitors can admire the Portuguese sunset. The setting on the Estoril coast enjoys, on average, more than 300 days of sun per year. These conditions make Nova Rooftop one of the favourite places for regulars in the area.
